St Andrews Gardening Co-Operative
The name really says it all: we are all St Andrews people, we are a gardening group, and we co-operate with each other!
The Co-Op was created after The Bushfire as a way of developing a sense of community, and about helping each other recreate our gardens. We have been quite successful in this regard! Many of us did not have our gardens (etc!) destroyed by that fire and the Co-Op is stronger because of these members.
After the initial focus on restoring our gardens, the Co-Op has developed into a social as well as activist group. We meet monthly for a “chat-fest” and for some planning, and have a social or working-bee activity once a month: we “time-out” for school holidays, December and January – for obvious reasons! So we are not too demanding on our time. We schedule activities for mid-week and for week-ends to cater for differing needs.
Our activities in 2013 included visits to the Kuranga Native Nursery, Blue Lotus Water Gardens; “Open Gardens” have been offered by two of our members (and morning tea !); and several working bees at members homes (did I mention the morning tea ?). Plus - our Christmas break-up dinner.
We have a small specialist tool library for members. This includes a post-hole digger, pole chain-saw, line-trimmer, and other smaller tools. These are available to members at no charge.
Becoming a member (YES !!) is easy – either contact one of the committee members

Come along to our meetings; they are usually held once a month on a Thursday (well, almost) at 7:30 pm in the St Andrews Primary School during the redevelopment of the Community Centre.
The Co-Op is a down-to-earth group (pun intended) that focuses on action and laughter: we are not high-powered botanists, nor do we only talk about gardens. Did I mention morning tea ?
We need you.
