AT WADAMBUK
At Wadambuk St Andrews Community Centre, we host a wide range of events designed to bring the community together and celebrate creativity, culture, and connection. From live music nights to community festivals, there’s always something happening or in the works at the Centre.
One of our most popular events is Friday Night Live @ St Andrews, where we showcase top-tier professional performers from Melbourne, bringing the best of the city’s vibrant music scene to our local community. We’re also passionate about nurturing homegrown talent, with local artists regularly taking the stage as support acts. We also host the St Andrews Festival, a celebration of local culture, art, food, and community spirit, with activities for all ages and interests.

Community Tile Making
Join us at our Winter Gathering Soup Lunch and leave your own little mark on Wadambuk! Drop in and create a small tile to become part of our Tile Revival Project, bringing together tiles from our community’s past with new creations from today.
You’ll be guided by local artists Andrea and Sienna, so no artistic skills are needed – just come along, have some fun and create your own little masterpiece. Then enjoy a warm bowl of homemade soup and a relaxed chat with others in the community.

Leave Your Mark on Wadambuk!
The Tile Revival Project is bringing new life to the much-loved community tile artwork first created in the 1990s.
Original tiles are being incorporated into a new garden feature at Wadambuk, alongside new tiles created by today’s community – connecting our past with the present.
Now it’s your turn to be part of Wadambuk’s story!
Drop into one of our community tile-making workshops and create your own small tile to become a permanent part of the Tile Revival Project. No experience needed – just come along anytime during the advertised two-hour session and create your little masterpiece!
Your tile will then be fired, ready for you to return at a follow-up colouring session to add the finishing touches.
All ages welcome – come along, get creative and leave your mark on Wadambuk for years to come!

St Andrews Film Festival
Here is your chance to join a relaxed and entertaining community event! On offer are two acclaimed international movies and a locally made documentary plus the chance to swap ideas and gossip over lunch and a cuppa. The three
films all have a musical theme but with very different and often gripping storylines. As an added bonus, documentary-maker Andrew Garton will be with us to share his thoughts about the filmmaking process.
There is the opportunity to share lunch at local café A Boy Named Sue, with morning tea and afternoon tea included in the ticket price.
The films
My Brother’s Band is a French movie about a professional orchestra conductor who discovers he has a brother he’d never known of before, brought up in an entirely different social milieu. Music unites them, society pulls them apart.
The Choral is set in the UK at the time of the First World War when a community society attempts to boost the spirits of the townsfolk in unsettled times. This funny and moving film stars Ralph Fiennes and is directed by Nicholas Hytner.
We will meet Andrew Garton, a well-recognised film-maker from St Andrews. His documentary, This Choir Sings Carols, is set in Whittlesea and Epping and is a joyful celebration of our local and diverse community.
Everyone is invited to come along to have fun and a relaxing time.

An introduction to propagating local plants
Where: Stringybark Community Nursery
Saturday 19th September
1.00pm-3.30pm
Come along and learn the basics on how to propagate indigenous plants that grow in Nillumbik at our community nursery in St Andrews, established in 2010.
Sue Aldred, co-founder of Stringybark, will cover seed types, methods of propagation, pricking out seedlings and more.
Indigenous plants are important to our ecosystems and planting local is a positive step towards contributing to our environment in these troubled times. You’ll also be able to
browse our competitively priced stock and find out more about getting involved in the nursery following the workshop.
All materials, some notes, and afternoon tea are included in the $15 cost and you will be able to take
your sown seed home.

FREE COMMUNITY TRIVIA
What a night!
Our first-ever Community Trivia Night was a huge success – and loads of fun! The competition was fierce with 8 tables battling it out for the inaugural trophy and the title of Wadambuk Trivia Champions. Congratulations to this year’s winners, The Wild Dogs!
A massive thank you to A Local Baker and A Boy Named Sue for their generous prize donations – we’re so lucky to have such amazing local businesses, so be sure to support them.
The night was full of laughs, friendly rivalry, and community spirit – and yes, we’ll definitely be doing it again!
